“Basic Learning Cycle” in grades 1 & 2 and “Advanced Learning Cycle” in grades 3, 4 & 5.
At the age of six, a child enters the elementary school where he spends five years during which he will mainly learn reading, writing, arithmetic and further improve his skills in English and computer science. Arts and sciences are also included in the curriculum.
The Basic Learning Cycle places emphasis on the acquisition of languages -- French and Arithmetic – and key concepts in civics and in relating to learning around the world. It also leaves plenty of room for the development of motor functions and sensitivity.
The Advanced Learning Cycle builds on what has already been learnt and introduces the first concepts and processes relating to the subjects that will be studied in higher grades while the study of English is really reinforced. The homeroom teacher works hand in hand with specialist subject teachers for English, Physical Education, Music and Arts.
