cultural awareness in the spirit of intercultural learning and

components of co-operation.
Deutsch
humaine.
Eurocampus
is worldwide a unique project, including two schools from 2 different
countries on a compound of 20.000 sqm. The compound is in Better Living
Subdivision, Paranaque, a relatively unpolluted area in a quiet, green
environment.
The
schools operate solely within their national curriculum. However, there
is cooperation in extra curricular activities, staffing, use of
buildings and maintenance. Daily hours vary for the different grades,
with Kindergarten and preschool ending by 12.10 p.m. and classes ending
by 13.05 p.m., 14.30 p.m. or 15.20 p.m. respectively. The school year
begins in August and ends in June. The holidays during the school year
are around Christmas, February and Easter.
Eurocampus
has been founded 1992. Both the French School Manila, an Embassy
school, and the German School Manila (José-Rizal-Schule
Manila) -- an international school in manila -- , recognized by the Philippine Government through the Department
of Education, Sports and Culture since 1983, were desperately looking
for a new location for their schools. Out of this necessity, the idea
of the Eurocampus was born. This need and the advantage of a common
compound have been main points in considering a joint venture.
Implementing this idea became a great success.
Each
School has its own curriculum that follows closely which is offered in
France or in Germany.
In
addition to normal school classes the Eurocampus offers many
extra-curricular activities, where students from different nations work
together. These activities take place during the afternoon while the
children can enjoy the generous facilities of the campus like the two
swimming pools, sports field, gymnasium or auditorium.
All schools share
most of the facilities like the faculty rooms, sports facilities,
science labs and equipment, rooms for computer science, library, and
canteen. The classrooms, however, are all designed for each class of
each particular school. The French as well as the German school employ
qualified teachers and staff from their homelands. The different
schools on the Eurocampus ensure the students the same quality of
education as back in their home countries. Our experience shows, that
our students transfer to schools in Germany, Switzerland or France
without any significant problems. Our report cards and final
examinations have the same value as in their respective homelands. |
