Bilingual French-English curriculum for 4/5 and 5/6-year-old children
A bilingual program wherein the curriculum defined by the French Ministry of Education is taught in French and in English, for an equal number of hours.
This program aims to develop the pupils’ capacity to express themselves in both languages .
The class is handled by 2 teachers, both native speakers of the language in which they teach.
Conditions of admission to the bilingual program
- positive evaluation of the child’s verbal skills in his/her own native language
- commitment of the family that the child will complete the 2 years minimum, duration of the 1st part of the program
- assessment by the faculty and approval.
The faculty regularly evaluates each child’s progress with the aim to determine how this bilingual program is beneficial to the growth of the child.
No admission to this program may be considered after the month of October except if the child was previously attending a similar program in another school.
Priority is given to currently enrolled students.
Incoming students will undergo an assessment test.
Schedule
On a daily alternate basis, 50% in French and 50% in English
Evaluation
Conducted in accordance with the common European framework for languages.
The report card (Livret Scolaire) indicates the child’s acquisition of competencies in both languages.
Project monitoring and follow-up
Regularly evaluated by a team of educational professionals involved in similar projects in other French schools in South-East Asia. This team of teachers is coordinated by a regional inspector who is in charge of the monitoring and may eventually adjust the curriculum.
