Computer Science
Information Technology is now part of the modern world in the economic, social and cultural fields of our present civilization. Communications skills are most important all along our professional and private life. It is the role of the school to teach each student how to acquire competencies that will lead him/her to use computers intelligently and efficiently, acquire the techniques that will facilitate good communication and learn how to become autonomous and responsible citizens with a critical mind.
As early as kindergarten (5/6 years old), students learn in small groups how to use a computer and apply their skill to all kinds of subjects (French, English, Mathematics, Practical Arts, etc…). Students may use computers individually or in groups, always under the supervision of an adult.
Two laboratories are fully equipped with more than 20 computers each, elementary classrooms are individually equipped as well as the library where computers may be used under a self-service system. Students enrolled in higher levels are encouraged to bring their laptop which they can connect in any classroom as there is a wi-fi connection.
All along their studies the students’ abilities are evaluated (in grade 5, 8 and 10) and they must have become proficient in the following :
1st domain - To manage a site
2nd domain - To be responsible
3rd domain - To create, produce and handle data
4th domain - To inform and collect documents
5th domain - To communicate and exchange
Only the students who pass the tests with a 80/100 score and who can manage successfully ½ of the items for each domain will receive a certificate validated by the teachers of the class level and the headmaster. This certificate is a pre-requisite for taking the Brevet exam (grade 10) and is included in the student’s records .
