The Philippines,   7107 mountainous islands, in the center of the China Sea, Pacific Ocean, enjoys a warm and humid tropical climate and a strategic location in Southeast Asia.

Capital City - Manila - 11 million inhabitants

As identified by the United Environment Programme, the Philippines belong to the group of the 17 megadiverse countries that harbor the majority of the earth's species and are therefore considered extremely bio-diverse.  In 2002, the Philippines joined the Like-Minded Megadiverse Countries consisting of countries rich in biological diversity and associated traditional knowledge.
