Suspension of classes when typhoons and other calamities occur
The Department of Education has established guidelines for the automatic suspension or cancellation of classes in case of typhoon (typhoon2000.com) or other natural disaster even if no announcement has been issued.
Signal no. 1 – Suspension of classes in Preschool only. Teachers and staff will report to work and render service to take care of the pupils who didn’t get the suspension message from PAGASA.
Signal no. 2 – Suspension of classes at all levels. This concerns also the teachers who might be requested to hold make-up classes later on.
Classes may be suspended for other reasons (earthquake, heavy rains, transportation strikes). The decision belongs to the administration of the school and all families will receive a cell phone message.
Cell phone number of the school, for emergency only - 09178930709
1. In case a typhoon or any other emergency is announced – in this case a signal is aired on all radio stations and TV channels -- families must keep themselves informed by listening to the radio, watching TV or checking the internet, and counterchecking early in the morning before sending their children to school.
2. The parents have the ultimate responsibility for determining whether their child(ren) should go to school even if no order for the suspension has been issued if they feel that traveling to or from school will place their child(ren) at risk.
3. The school has an emergency cell phone where the number of each family is registered. A test message is done periodically. Families must inform the secretariat regarding any change in their phone number(s).
